It’s not magic, but it happens. In time, without exactly realising how and when, you notice a shift in how you see yourself. Each counselling course, each exercise and each interaction with your colleagues combine to redefine the way you understand yourself. And one day, suddenly, you have an insight about your own patterns and reactions, a new one, even if you thought you already knew yourself well. And then many more others, in a cascade of understanding. You finally start to see what has been wrong all this time in the way you defined your “normal”.
It is a refreshing, vitalising process and it is only the beginning of the changes you now know you need to make. But you have now a deep knowing, which will nurture these changes and which somehow takes you on a different road than the old one, without so much effort from your part.
Possibly, this is how therapy works too.
